Terms of Service

Climb Companion — app and Plus subscription terms of use

1. Acceptance of terms

By using Climb Companion ("the app") you accept these Terms of Service. If you don't accept them, you must not use the app. These terms apply together with the Privacy Policy and include, in Sections 7 and 9, the conditions relating to the exercises and training content you enter into the app yourself.

2. What Climb Companion is

Climb Companion is an Android app for tracking climbing projects, manual training sessions, and personal goals (Challenges). The app runs entirely locally on your device: it doesn't require creating an account and doesn't rely on a server of its own. For details on how data is handled, see the Privacy Policy.

3. Free features and Climb Companion Plus

Some features of the app are available for free. Climb Companion Plus is an optional in-app subscription that unlocks additional features (including the grade pyramid and route/boulder analysis, advanced session analytics, and unlimited projects and cards). Features included in Plus may evolve over time; any substantial changes will be communicated through the app.

4. Pricing, auto-renewal, and free trial

Climb Companion Plus is offered in the following plans, purchasable through Google Play:

— Plus Monthly: €2.49 per month, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, the subscription renews automatically at the monthly price shown, unless the trial is cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends.

— Plus Yearly: €14.99 per year, with no trial period.

All subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The renewal charge is billed to your Google Play account within the 24 hours before the current period ends, at the price confirmed at purchase or communicated in advance if it changes. Prices may vary by country based on Google's pricing policies and currency conversion.

5. Managing and cancelling your subscription

Subscriptions are managed entirely by Google through your Google Play account. You can view, change, or cancel your subscription at any time from the Google Play Store app ▸ Menu ▸ Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period: no partial refunds are given for the period already paid, except as provided by Google's refund policies, which Google handles independently for any refund request related to in-app purchases.

6. License to use

You're granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use Climb Companion on your personal devices, for individual, non-commercial use, subject to these terms and to Google Play's standard terms of use for third-party apps. You may not copy, modify, decompile, distribute, or create derivative works from the app, except as expressly permitted by applicable law.

7. Content you enter, including exercises

You remain the owner of the content you enter into the app: photos, notes, projects, and in particular the exercises and training plans. In Climb Companion, exercises aren't provided or selected by the developer: you're the one who creates, names, and describes them, and optionally attaches your own photo. The controller doesn't write, review, verify, or approve in any way the training content you enter (names, loads, sets, reps, notes): you're solely responsible for its correctness, safety, and suitability for your physical level. Since this data stays exclusively on your device, you're also solely responsible for keeping it — we recommend using the manual backup feature in Settings before switching devices or uninstalling the app.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Climb Companion is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of fitness for a particular purpose or of being error-free. The app isn't a medical device and doesn't provide diagnosis, therapy, or health, physiotherapy, or personal-training advice. In particular, we don't warrant the accuracy, safety, or suitability of any exercise, load, or training plan entered by users, since that content is neither written nor reviewed by the controller: the app only records it and shows you statistics and analysis based on what you enter.

9. Physical activity risk and limitation of liability

Climbing and physical training carry an inherent risk of injury independent of the app: falls, overload, fatigue, and conditions where you train. By using Climb Companion you knowingly accept this risk as part of the activity you've chosen to practice. Since the exercises and training plans you use are created by you (Section 7), it's up to you to judge whether a load, progression, or exercise is suitable for your level: if you have prior injuries, persistent pain, or particular health conditions, consult a doctor, physiotherapist, or qualified personal trainer before starting or continuing any training program, including one you enter into this app. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the controller isn't liable for injuries, physical harm, or indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use — or inability to use — the app or the exercises you enter into it. This limitation doesn't apply where the law doesn't allow such exclusion (in particular for willful misconduct or gross negligence). Even where liability isn't excluded, any amount owed will never exceed what you actually paid for Plus services in the 12 months before the disputed event — zero for anyone using only the free version.

10. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated over time, for example when new features are added or prices change. The updated version will always be published in this same place, with the date of the last change shown at the bottom of the page. Continued use of the app after a substantial update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Italian law. Any dispute relating to use of the app falls under the consumer's forum provided by applicable law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules in the user's country of residence for users residing in the European Union.

12. Video

You're responsible for the videos you record, import, and share. Only import footage you have the right to use: if other recognizable people appear in it, make sure you have their consent before publishing it. Climb Companion doesn't upload, store, or have access to your videos; it processes them only on your device to display, compare, and export them. Exported videos always include the Climb Companion watermark. By sharing a video on a third-party service, you accept that service's terms.

13. Contact

For questions about these terms you can write to [email protected].
